Starting on Monday 16 December, passengers at the Plzeň Main Station will be able to use a newly built underpass leading from Platform No 4 up to Šumavská Street. Its partial opening was facilitated by gradual implementation of the Plzeň railway node transit project. All construction works will be completed in May next year.
The Railway Infrastructure Administration (SZDC) takes into consideration the decision of the company ARRIVA vlaky s.r.o. to stop operation of commercial trains on the allocated route Praha – Kralupy nad Vltavou. We strictly disagree however with the declaration of ARRIVA vlaky s.r.o. that the reason for ending regular operation should consist in closure works or even non-allocating railway capacity to this railway undertaking by the Railway Infrastructure Administration (SZDC).
09.12.2013 SŽDC signed the union contract for 2014
After intensive negotiations, the management of the Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) signed together with its social partners the company union contract for 2014. According to this document which is a compromise achieved by both contracting parties, company benefits will remain in the extent of this year. A mild salaries’ growth has been ensured as well.
03.12.2013 Construction completion ceremony of the Reconstruction and Capacity Increase of the Studénka – Mošnov Line
Today the Railway Infrastructure Administration officially ended the reconstruction of the single track line Studénka – Veřovice in the section between the railway stations Studénka and Sedlnice. The construction created conditions for the implementation of separate follow-on investments of the Moravian-Silesian Region, which ensures approximately 3 km long rail link of the Leoš Janáček Ostrava Airport to the newly reconstructed line.

29.11.2013 The Railway Infrastructure Administration finalised the pilot project of selected railway crossings’ modernisation
The Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) today festively finalised the investment operation Railway Crossings in Section Rumburk – Dolní Poustevna, Pilot project, having as objective a modernisation of safety equipment on thirteen selected railway crossings. SŽDC manages 8,070 railway crossings, in many cases their safety system does not correspond to current safety trends anymore. The project which is co-financed by the European Union will continue in the years to follow as well with modernisation of hundreds of similarly technically obsolete railway crossings.
27.11.2013 GSM-R radio system newly launched on the line Děčín through Ústí nad Labem, Mělník and Všetaty to Kolín
Another part of the domestic railway network was retrofitted with a pan-European digital radio standard GSM-R to increase safety on railway lines. A 172 kilometre-long section was covered from Děčín Prostřední Žleb - Děčín east - Ústí n/L. Střekov - Mělník - Všetaty - Lysá n/L. – to Kolín. “The GSM-R network allows rail carriers to communicate through a single vehicle radio station across all of Europe,” said Mojmír Nejezchleb, Deputy Director General of the Railway Infrastructure Administration today at an industry seminar on digitalization of the national railway. The construction is co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund within the framework of the Transport Operational Programme for 2007-2013. The extent of EU co-financing can reach a maximum of 85% of eligible construc-tion costs. The EU contribution may thus amount to CZK 297 980 250. National funding is ensured by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.
Passengers on the trans-border railway line from Liberec to Zittau and Rybniště with a branching from Varnsdorf to Seifhennersdorf could already notice several improvements due to the implementation of the Czech-German Lubahn Project. On the Czech territory, the project included reconstruction of Platform No 5 in Liberec Station and construction of a new stop Varnsdorf Old Station. The main project partner is ZVON from Saxony (Transport Association Upper Lusatia – Lower Silesia), the other partners are the Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) and the Liberec Region
26.11.2013 The Railway Infrastructure Administration finished reconstruction of switches in Křižanov Station
The main construction’s objective was reconstructing switches in Křižanov Station in the direction to Havlíčkův Brod (so-called Brod station head). These were equipped at the same time by electrical heating. The opposite end of the station (so-called Brno station head) has been partly reconstructed too. The construction implementation enabled reaching a standard state and increasing railway operation safety.
22.11.2013 Photo Contest 2013 has its winner
The tenth anniversary of the existence of the Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) is accompanied by a number of events throughout the whole of 2013. One of these events is the announcement of the winners of the second annual photo contest. Compared to the premiere year, this year contestants competed in five categories and there were even more contestants. 153 of them applied and sent a total of more than eight hundred contest photos. In addition to recognition and commemorative plaques, the winners selected by a professional jury also received a number of prizes and valuable gifts from the sponsors of the contest. These were handed over to the winners in style in the representative premises of the Government State Room in Prague’s main railway station.
