18.09.2013 The Railway Infrastructure Administration starts a pilot project which will improve safety of railway crossings
Today the Railway Infrastructure Administration (RIA) investment campaign Crossings in the Rumburk – Dolní Poustevna section, pilot project was festively initiated with an intent of modernizing safety equipment on the first thirteen railway crossings. This project being co-financed by the European Union set as objective to modernize several hundreds of technically outdated railway crossings in the years to follow. By this step, the Railway Infrastructure Administration once again brings contributes to increasing safety on the railway.
Investments into railway infrastructure within the Czech-German Lubahn Project will ensure more attractive cross-border train connection in the Nisa Euro-Region. On the Czech territory, Platform No 5 in Liberec station will be reconstructed and a new railway stop Varnsdorf staré nádraží (Varnsdorf Old Station) will be built. The main project’s partner is ZVON from Saxony (Transport association Upper Lusatia – Lower Silesia), the other partners are the Railway Infrastructure Administration (RIA) and the Liberec Region.
The Railway Infrastructure Administration has prepared an exceptional change of the passenger transport timetable on some lines from 2nd September 2013. This has happened based on a request from transport operators.
13.08.2013 The Railway Infrastructure Administrations started reconstructing switches in Křižanov Station
As indicated by the construction designation, its main objective is reconstructing switches in Křižanov Station in the direction Havlíčkův Brod (the so-called Brod station head). The opposite end of the station (the so-called Brno station head) will be undergoing partial repairs as well. Switches on the Brod station head will be equipped at the same time with electric heating. Implementing this construction will help to achieve a standard state and increase railway transport safety.
31.07.2013 New stage going to take up the first part of line Lysá nad Labem – Praha-Vysočany optimisation in several years
Modernisation of the triple-track corridor section between stations Praha-Běchovice and Úvaly which was in preparation for a long time could start this fall already. Due to reduced capacity of this busy line, some trains will be using an alternate route through Lysá nad Labem. In this connection, the Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) implemented an investment designated Optimisation of the line Lysá nad Labem – Praha-Vysočany, 1st construction. The construction supplier was the AŽD Praha Company. This operation was co-financed within the Operational Programme Transport from the EU Cohesion Fund.

Správa železniční dopravní cesty (Railway Infrastructure Administration) can sign the contract with the supplier of the Rokycany-Plzeň Modernization soon and effectively start this important investment for Railway Corridor 3. This was made possible thanks to the decision of the Office for Protection of Competition’s Chairman Petr Rafaj from 12 June 2013. He confirmed hereby the previous decision of the Office on the right choice of the winning participant of this public tender and at the same time he rejected the appeal lodged by the unsuccessful contender for the contract.
The renovated Střelná tunnel, repaired tracks and new platforms in the Střelná station are a tangible outcome of the construction project taking place in the last 18 months on Railway Line 280, between Hranice na Moravě and Střelná, close to the Slovak border. During a ceremony held today, the project, which the European Union provided substantial funds for, was officially concluded by Správa železniční dopravní cesty (Rail Infrastructure Administration).
26.06.2013 The project “Modernization of the railway Ševětín – Veselí nad Lužnicí – Part II, Section Horusice – Veselí nad Lužnicí” was launched
Modernization of the next section of the 4th transit railway corridor from the Děčín state border through Prague, Benešov, and Tábor to České Budějovice and Horní Dvořiště state border was launched today. It is a section Horusice – Veselí nad Lužnicí, total construction length is 4.964 km. Modernization of the railway will bring double-track of the currently single-track railway, it will double transport capacity and thanks to increased speed up to 160 km/h it will shorten running times of trains. The construction project also includes redevelopment of the railway station and railway stop in Veselí nad Lužnicí.
