SŽDC strategy aims to offer all carriers a high-quality railway infrastructure in the Czech Republic that is becoming a part of main European routes. We consider this the only possible way of how to enhance competitiveness of the railway in the Czech Republic and thus to enforce its role in the transport sector.
SŽDC is a member of UIC (International Union of Railways), actively involved particularly in projects falling into the infrastructure forum including ERTMS platform, and of CER (Community of European Railways and Infrastructure Companies).
CER is the most significant association of the European railways which brings together 73 railway undertakings and infrastructure companies from the European Union, the accession countries (Croatia, Macedonia and Turkey) as well as from the Western Balkan countries, Norway and Switzerland. CER main objective is to defend sector’s interests, especially to make statements through its position papers to the proposals of the Council of Ministers, European Commission and European Parliament and to directly participate in developing essential technical documents within ERA (European Railway Agency).
Another proof of SŽDC active involvement is the fact that Ing. Jan Komárek – Director General – has been elected Vice-president of this significant railway organization. SŽDC is also a member of the association of infrastructure managers in Central Europe - Centropa and cooperates with RNE (Rail Net Europe).
