Brno - 1st part of storage sidings, 1st phase

The objective of the construction is to establish an independent technological operational area in the location of the railway station Brno - Horní Heršpice, under the reconstruction of the whole railway junction Brno.

The 1st part of the construction of the depot focuses on providing necessary equipment for cleaning, maintenance and repair of passenger trains and electrical units (completely new tracks for the outdoor and indoor coach cleaning, halls for operational treatment, maintenance and repair of coaches and electrical units. The location of the construction has been selected in order to allow full utilization of the area both in terms of the current position of the passenger station and of its future displaced position. The connection with the railway network has been designed across the current depot A, B, F as well as from the south station head of the railway station Brno lower station.

Due to funding reasons and the implementation it was decided on the phasing (3 phases) of the approved preparatory documentation.

The 1st phase focuses on the indoor washer of carriage boxes and on related adequate parts of other objects. The washer has been placed on the track No. 208 and after the finalization it will be put into operation immediately, also with the current shape of the railway junction. As for its operation, the construction design shows at least a minimum number of related tracks and connecting tracks to provide the connection to the depot A, B and F and to all tracks of the central station. The indoor washer has a minimum capacity of 200 coaches per 24 hours.

The construction deals with a technological trackage for the car wash service, hold yard and connection to the depot B. (Superstructure new type S 49 on concrete sleepers.) Building the car wash hall is linked to the implementation of the relocation of the interconnection for freight in the section of the railway station Brno lower station – railway station Modřice. The connection of the technological trackage to the depots A, B and F and its connection to the central station is also associated with the lining of tracks No. 1 and 2 of the section of the railway station Modřice – railway station Brno H. Heršpice and some tracks in the direction to the railway station Brno south and the railway station Brno lower station.

Track lining at the railway station Brno H. Heršpice is temporary and its aim is to connect the turn-out track of the car wash and to connect the depot A and F. General reconstruction of the railway station Brno H. Heršpice will follow in the next phases of the reconstruction of the railway junction Brno. Other track lining will proceed during the construction and reconstruction of bridge structures. Based on the results from the geotechnical and geological survey, there will be rehabilitation of substructure including drainage.
