Transit through the railway junction Kolín

In 1993 the modernization of the Ist Railway Transit Corridor running from the state border with Germany via Děčín, Prague, Kolín, Pardubice, Brno and Břeclav to the state border with Austria started.

In the context with the modernization of the Ist Corridor it is also necessary to progressively reconstruct and modernize railway stations and junctions situated on this corridor, which are however not a part due to their specific conditions, at least in the scope of the corridor transit through these stations and junctions. The objective is to meet follow-up parameters of the modernized section: structural gauge UIC GC, track load class UIC D4, adjustment of geometric parameters of the track for the operation of tilting boxes and elimination of the speed drop.

The proposal for the transit through the railway junction Kolín is a guarantee for meeting required parameters for the transit along the section Česká Třebová - Prague between the currently implemented constructions Kolín - Přelouč and Poříčany - Kolín. It is proposed to reduce the current speed drop (in both directions from 160 km/h to 50 km/h, now to 120 km/h) and to reach the speed of 155 to 160 km/h for tilting boxes. The achieved speed parameters are limited by the currently non-improvable confined conditions and by the efforts to restrict interference in the trackage to the minimum, except for the 1st and 2nd track.

The construction also includes modifications according to the Regulation No. 369/2001 Coll. enabling disabled people to use the construction.
