Modernisation of the line Stéblová – Opatovice nad Labem will be followed by adaptations of further line sections
PRAGUE, 28 March 2013 – The Pardubice Region made an announcement in the previous days stating that it would not support dividing modernisation of the line Hradec Králové – Pardubice – Chrudim into several parts. In order to perceive the project correctly, the Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) reminds once again the intent’s fundamentals.
In connection with modernisation of the line between cities mentioned above, SŽDC declares in a long term its efforts to adopt first the section between railway stations Stéblová and Opatovice nad Labem. Adding a second track will bring effect not only in better regularity of trains, but also in decreasing journey times.
This is related to the fact that SŽDC intents to increase current allowed speed of 100 km/h on the modernised section up to a planned speed of 160 km/h. Other structures will be reconstructed during construction of railway crossings safety installations in this line section as well. The project’s adaptations have as objective especially enabling a speedy continuation of the construction in more line sections where no second track adding was being envisaged in a close term. The priority of SŽDC on the contrary is a fully adequate railway connection with two tracks of the Pardubice – Hradec Králové agglomeration. In case the Pardubice Region is interested in details, we are prepared to present them with even more specifications to its representatives.
