The railway section Velká nad Veličkou - Veselí nad Moravou in operation
Travelling to the Horňácké Celebrations by train
The railway section between Velká nad Veličkou and Veselí nad Moravou, which was heavily damaged by spring thaw at the train stop Louka u Ostrohu, has been repaired. The continuous track possession ended at 12:00 on Wednesday 15. 7. (The first trains started according to the train traffic schedule at 00:00 on 16. 7. 2009.)
The visitors to the Horňácké Celebrations will be able to travel by train.
The embankment of the line from the 19th Century could not support the impact of water during the spring thaw which resulted in its slip on an approximately 100m-long section. It was necessary to excavate and to reconstruct approximately 200 metres of the track substructure, to build new drainage and to rehabilitate a geologically unstable foundation. The railway superstructure has also been reconstructed. The works proceeded in a hard-accessible terrain which was the reason for building a temporary access road for the civil engineering facility.
The total costs of the reconstruction of the section amount to nearly CZK 30 MM.
