23. 02. 2010 Czech Republic promotes Corridor E
The railway network may soon become a competitor to expressway routes. It is necessary to upgrade the main railway paths and especially to eliminate barriers at the borders of respective states. This – beside other measures – should be promoted by an integrated control system ETCS.
28. 01. 2010 New euro-locks for the disabled
11 railway stations in Central Bohemia have been lately included in the project Euro-key. This special key for disabled citizens allows access to sanitary facilities and utilization of staircase platforms.
20. 01. 2010 Noise protection measures in Poděbrady
Main works contributing to the reduction of noise stress in Poděbrady induced by the railway transport operation have been accomplished. Rail noise absorbers have been applied in ČR for the second time. Absorbers reduce the noise stress by approximately 2-6 dB.
20. 01. 2010 Up-to-date safety and signalling installation in the section Pilsen – Klatovy
The railway section Pilsen – Klatovy is now equipped with state-of-the-art features necessary for safe long-distance control of the railway operation. The investor of the project was the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization.
18. 01. 2010 Educational film on the level crossing safety
Representatives of the Railway Infrastructure Administration, s. o. presented a new project called Drivers lapsing on level crossings in Ostrava today. Besides SŽDC, the project was also promoted by the representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the Police Headquarters and other transport authorities.
07. 01. 2010 The EC adopted two big projects of the OP Transport
The European Commission definitely adopted the first two big projects implemented under the Operational Programme Transport on 21st December 2009. The projects Optimization of the railway section Benešov u Prahy – Strančice and Electrification of the railway section including PEÚ Letohrad - Lichkov state border, 1st construction Letohrad (exclusive) - Lichkov state border. Now, it is certain that the Czech Republic will receive up to € 160 MM. for those projects.
07. 01. 2010 Train stop Smržovka-Luční in operation
Test operation started on a newly-built railway stop Smržovka-Luční on 1st January 2010. It will allow better accessibility of the railway transport from the suburb Luční. The stop has been included in the project Improvement of transport services of the micro-region Tanvaldsko.
