Project preparation necessary for ensuring the line renewal has been currently finished both on the Czech and the German side already. During this summer, SŽDC assumes obtaining necessary building permits, the same should be completed in Germany during autumn as well.
Works on the Czech territory will include reconstruction of Aš railway station and a part of the line leading to the state border including the upgrading of current technological equipment in the station. On the German side of the border, the railway station Selb Plössberg will be reconstructed, safety and signalling equipment will be renewed and railway crossings’ will be modernized..
The decisive factor for meeting the deadline for operation renewal however will be completing the construction of the railway bridge over the bypass of the Erkersreut community in Germany. As soon as this construction is finished, nothing should prevent the return of trains on this cross-border railway line. Total costs of operation renewal on the Czech line section will amount 75 million CZK.
