Festive launch of the „Reconstruction of track No.1, km 30,650–38,616 of the line Brno – Havlíčkův Brod“

Tišnov, 15 December 2011 – The objective of the festively launched construction is to restore the required structural-technical condition of the permanent way, among others the reconstruction of two bridges on km 34,341 and 35,529. The current permanent way dates from 1976. The investor of the construction is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization (SŽDC).

Ing. Jiří Martínek, SŽDC´s Deputy Director for Rail Modernization commented that „the reconstruction shall contribute to higher comfort of travelling, enhanced safety of the rail operation, substantially lower demands for maintenance and repair and to overall enhancement of quality of travelling. The line speed after the reconstruction will be up to110 km/h for standard sets and up to 140 km/h for tilting boxes.

Within the scope of the reconstruction, a new continuous welded rail UIC60 will be laid on concrete sleepers B91 S/1. Concrete sleepers SB 8P will be applied on massive bridges. The reconstruction of the ballast bed will be carried out for the length of 6,652 metres. A new 1,174 m-long ballast bed will be set up on massive bridges on km 34,341 and 35,529 and in the tunnel (km 34,531–35,164). On steel bridges on km 30,896, 31,461 and 31,850 there will be reconstruction of bridge sleepers, drainage and water-proofing of dilatation joints and cornices in both tracks on the bridge on km 35,529 and on the bridge on km 34,341 in track No. 1. The bridges were put into operation in 1953 and no major repair has been performed on them since. Flaws in the water-proofing and drainage start to have negative impact on the bridge structure. The originally designed bridge trough (for the permanent way on wooden sleepers) no longer complies with the current requirements. New spray insulation will have to be applied.

The construction also includes the rehabilitation of the cutting slope on km 38,060–38,110 which will be carried out by the excavation of the unsuitable soil. The excavated material will be replaced with pervious, frost-resistant soil. At the same time, the function of the subsurface drain under the lineside ditch will be restored. The lineside ditch will be reinforced with ditch lining concrete blocks.

A new 170 m-long grade-separated platform with the height of 550 mm over the top of rail will be built near track No. 1 in the train stop Dolní Loučky. Building the new platform will call for new positioning of lighting masts. 11 new platform masts (LBH-5A) will be built for the new lighting system of the platform.

The overhead contact line is the original one dating back to the 60´s. Due to inconvenient electric parameters of the contact line system of the track section,  the reconstruction of all the insulation components related to the reconstruction of track No. 1 will be carried out in both the longitudinal and cross span. The work will also proceed with the reconstruction of all current jumpers and flexi ropes, including pulleys of movable anchorage in mechanical and electric overlaps as well as the connection of feeding head-spans.

The modification of the signalling installation includes the dismantling of obsolete line loops and the installation of new ones in the railway stations Tišnov and Říkonín. At signal points, the dismantling and installation of reused track transformers will be executed as well as the dismantling of obsolete rope sets and the installation of new ones.

The investment cost totals CZK 108,014,305. The construction has been proposed to be co-funded by the European Union from the Cohesion fund under the Operational Programme Transport. The level of assistance may represent up to 85 % of the eligible cost. The remaining part receives national funds from the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.
