Festive Launch of the Optimization of the Section Bystřice nad Olší - Český Těšín
Optimization of the section Bystřice nad Olší - Český Těšín commenced
Třinec, 12th May 2010 – Another significant construction on III Railway Transit Corridor has been festively launched. It is the Optimization of the section Bystřice nad Olší – Český Těšín. The construction started in June last year and its completion is anticipated for March 2012. The investor of the construction is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization (SŽDC).
Ing. Jan Komárek, SŽDC Director General said: „It is a standard linear structure which is nearly to its full extent performed on the current trackbed. The new path will be set in the Ropice train stop. The original 1200m-long path will undergo recultivation. There will be a significant enhancement of the railway and road operation safety. Within the construction, four new underpasses which will replace the current level crossings will be built. The remaining six level crossings will be equipped and secured with state-of-the-art technology and full gates“.
The construction begins on 305,807 at the railway station Bystřice nad Olší, where it follows the ongoing optimization of the corridor at the railway section Bystřice nad Olší – Mosty u Jablunkova – the state border with Slovakia, and ends on km 317,296 at the entry to the railway station Český Těšín. It involves two interstation sections, the modernization of the railway station Třinec and the reconstruction of train stops Vendryně, Třinec Konská and Ropice. The job order also includes the reconstruction of the supply substation Třinec. The total length of the optimized section is 11 489 m and the construction is divided into 166 building and 59 operating facilities.
The optimization includes the reconstruction of the substructure and superstructure, reconstruction of platforms, including the construction of grade-separated accesses to island platforms, rehabilitation of unstable foundation of the substructure and the construction of buildings for positioning the technological equipment. In the whole section, a new contact line system and communication, signalling and lighting installations will be built.
In the Ropice train stop, there will be a new bridge on the line relocation and other 18 railway bridges and 6 culverts will be reconstructed. New subways in the train stops Vendryně and Třinec Konská will be equipped with lifts for a barrier-free access to platforms. In the Vendryně train stop, there will be a new steel footbridge and the footbridge at the railway station will be repaired. The construction work proceeds without disruption of operation, always in one track, in compliance with the approved plan of track possessions.
The investor of this construction, the cost of which will total nearly CZK 2,9 billion (without VAT), is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization. The financial means were provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure and simultaneously the co-funding of this project by the European Union under the Operational Programme Transport was applied for, when the planned contribution from theCohesion Fund exceeds CZK 1,38 billion. The Funding Request was approved by the Czech Ministry of Transport in November 2009 and will be followed by an assent procedure at the level of the European Commission. The contractor is the association of companies „BYTČ“, whose members are OHL ŽS, a.s. (chief member of the association), Subterra a.s. and EIFFAGE CONSTRUCTION Česká republika spol. s r. o. The project was developed by the association of companies SUDOP BRNO, spol. s r.o. (chief) and SUDOP PRAHA a.s.
