Trains from Pilsen may go to the station Domažlice Town

05.06.2013

Domažlice, June 5th 2013 – Ceremonial ride of the new motive power unit RegioShark opened the restored station Domažlice Town for passengers today.

Precisely these trains will start going to this station this summer, and thanks to this they will offer direct connection from the centre of Domažlice to the Pilsen central station. During spring months, SŽDC therefore installed four new signalling devices and restored crossing safety appliances in front and behind the station. In addition, the safety appliance in the Domažlice station was modified to ensure return of the train set without activation of the undesirable alarm at the crossing.

For save movement of passengers, 110 m long high platform was built enabling barrier-free access “from the street” directly to the train. A shelter for passengers was developed on the platform, which was also fitted with 7 lighting poles with automatic control using a twilight sensor. Information for passengers is provided by local radio operated remotely from the Domažlice station. The construction also includes restoration of the track rail in the length of 420 m, modification of hard surfaces for access to the platform, and demolition of the former gatekeeper station.
