Operation on the line Jaroměř – Stará Paka will be safer and more economical
The Railway Infrastructure Administration festively launched the modernisation of safety equipment on the line Jaroměř – Stará Paka. The project’s objective is especially increasing operation safety on the railway by limiting the human factor impact and introducing remote control of safety equipment.
“Modernisation in the section Jaroměř – Stará Paka will be beneficial in many views. Thanks to safety equipment installation, safety on the line will increase and operation costs will decrease.
The project will also have a positive impact on travelling comfort, journey times will be reduced and passengers will be better informed about current events on the line”, says Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of the Railway Infrastructure Administration about the construction’s assets.
The main objective of the construction is installing modern electronic systems within safety equipment of Category 3. This will eliminate any possible mistakes of the human factor and enable applying superstructural systems which provide comfort of computer handling to operating personnel. The new control system will ensure shortening operation intervals for crossing of trains at the station and thus contribute to decreasing their journey times. Safety equipment will be newly controlled by a traffic controller from an Integral Service Post at Stará Paka.
The construction also includes adapting platforms and roofing at railway stations and stops, having as objective to ensure comfortable and barrier-free access for passengers. Lights ensuring safety and security on platforms in the night will be also modernised. Some current point switches will be replaced by equipment of a new type which will bring considerably higher operation safety as well as travelling comfort.
Total construction costs designated as Remotely controlled safety equipment on the line Jaroměř (outside) – Stará Paka (outside) amount up to 461,357,968 CZK (VAT excluded). The project is co-financed by the European Union from its Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport up to a maximum amount of 365,929,241 CZK. National financing of the project will be ensured by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The completion of works is planned for the end of August this year.
