The Railway Infrastructure Administration started reconstructing the line Klatovy – Železná Ruda
Železná Ruda, 24 June 2015 – New tracks, new platforms, new safety equipment. All of this will appear on the line Klatovy – Železná Ruda in a section almost fifty kilometres long. A festive launch of this extensive reconstruction occurred with the participation of guests from Germany in the premises of Železná Ruda-Alžbětín railway station, situated right on the Czech-German border.
”This year, we are implementing a number of regional constructions on the so-called national network. The line from Klatovy to Železná Ruda is part of an important connection from Plzeň to Šumava Mountains. Passengers may look forward especially to higher comfort of railway transport in this locality“, said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of the Railway Infrastructure Administration.
The construction is based on the concept of the Plzeň Region Servicing plan and is in accordance with the perspective concept of the Ministry of Transport. It will bring a speed increase on this connecting line popular among tourists and thus also shorter journey times. Railway line capacity as well as safety will increase. From the most visible assets of the project we can name construction of new platforms and reconstruction or adaptation of lights at stations.
New safety equipment Category 3 and modern communication equipment will be built in all railway stations with the exception of Klatovy. Even more important for railway operation is the reconstruction of railway superstructure and substructure. The section on the line under reconstruction from Dešenice stop to Železná Ruda-Alžbětín is situated in the protected landscape area Šumava.
Construction works between Klatovy and Železná Ruda as such were launched this March and according to the schedule they should be completed next February. This supplier is the company SBT+OHL+AŽD Klatovy consisting of the partners Subterra a.s., OHL ŽS a.s. and AŽD Praha s.r.o. The company manager is Subterra a.s.
Total construction costs amount up to 92, 607,348 CZK (VAT excluded). The investor is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organisation. The project is proposed for co-financing by the European Union under the Operational Programme Transport from the Cohesion Fund. National financing of the project is assured by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.
