The Railway Infrastructure Administration finished reconstruction of switches in Křižanov Station

26.11.2013

Křižanov, 25 November – The main construction’s objective was reconstructing switches in  Křižanov Station in the direction to Havlíčkův Brod (so-called Brod station head). These were equipped at the same time by electrical heating. The opposite end of the station (so-called Brno station head) has been partly reconstructed too. The construction implementation enabled reaching a standard state and increasing railway operation safety.

The Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) decided to start reconstruction due to a unsatisfactory technical state of switches as individual parts of the switches’ construction started to show as worn out. Maintaining a standard state of the superstructure and reliable functioning of the tongues during switching involved increased maintenance costs already.

Reconstruction of the overhead line was implemented in such a way to enable train speed of 100 km/h (120 km/h in perspective) on main tracks and to ensure seamless wheeling of the trolley wire on all electrified tracks and switches. New dewatering has been built at reconstructed tracks as well. Waterproof isolation under reconstructed tracks was renewed on the bridge in km 61.357 and water was diverted from this isolation beside the bridge.

The project was co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund within the Operational Programme Transport up to 84.82% of sustainable funds’ support rate. National financing of this project was assured by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.
