Construction project „Optimization of the line Lysá nad Labem – Prague-Vysočany, 1st construction“ successfully completed

Prague-Horní Počernice, 20 November 2011 – Another significant phase of the Czech railway modernization has been completed. The investor of the construction project „Optimization of the line Lysá nad Labem – Prague-Vysočany, 1st construction“ is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization (SŽDC).  The contractor of the construction project was AŽD Prague. The construction has been largely co-funded as part of the Operational Programme Transport from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union.

 

 

This construction project mainly aimed to increase the capacity of the line Lysá nad Labem – Prague-Vysočany (used as a detour during the modernization of 1st Railway Transit Corridor in the track section of Prague-Běchovice – Úvaly), and to enhance the capacity within the development of Prague Integrated Transport. In railway station Prague-Horní Počernice, a new island platform was set up near current Track No. 4, with two platform edges - 550 mm, which together with the original platform will allow entry and exit from three trains simultaneously.  The island platform is accessible through a new underpass equipped with a lift for disabled people. The installation of the modern technological signalling equipment for railway traffic control enhanced the continuity and track capacity.

The main benefits of the construction project are the underpass with an island platform in Prague-Horní Počernice and the two-way automatic line block system in the track section of Prague Vysočany – Skály. Electronic interlocking  ESA-11 was installed in railway station Prague-Vysočany and at junction point Skály; two-way automatic line block system in the track section of junction point Skály – railway station Vysočany and one-way automatic line block system in the track section between stations Čelákovice – Mstětice – Prague-Horní Počernice – junction point Skály. The original electromechanical interlocking is maintained in railway stations Čelákovice, Mstětice and Prague-Horní Počernice.

In railway station Prague-Vysočany and at junction point Skály, 19 electric switch heaters have been installed. The project also includes the installation of the reinforcing line from converter station Balabenka to the gridiron of railway station Prague-Vysočany. The contact line has been installed on current overhead line masts. The construction project has created conditions for further improvement of rail transport and for strengthening its competitive position towards road transport, which clearly has a positive impact on the environment.

„The Optimization of the line Lysá nad Labem – Prague-Vysočany, 1st construction“ has been funded as part of the Operational Programme Transport from the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure and from the Cohesion Fund of EU. The level of EU co-funding may reach 70.35 % of the eligible costs of the construction. The maximum level of the contribution is CZK 151,590,729. National funds have been provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.  The anticipated overall investment costs total CZK  228,683,000.
