Festive completion of: RECONSTRUCTION OF THE RAILWAY STATION NESOVICE, II PART

Nesovice, 15.6.2011 – An important reconstruction of the track facility had been under wayin the railway station Nesovice for less than a year. The construction completed on today´s festive occasion has been co-funded by the European Union under the Operational Programme Transport. The total cost of the station reconstruction is CZK 166,935.207 without VAT. The Cohesion Fund is to contribute with the amount of CZK 139,513.842, which accounts for 85 % of the eligible cost of the project. The remaining part has been co-funded from national resources through the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.

 

 

The railway station Nesovice lies in the track section betweenBučovice and Nemotice in South-Moravia Region. The investor of the construction is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization. Ing. Pavel Habarta, Executive Director, commented on today´s festive occasion: „The reconstruction of the railway station Nesovice focused on enhancing travelling comfort for the public to the level of the 21st Century, and by replacing technological equipment and reconstructing bridge structures and a flyover it also contributed to enhanced safety of rail operation and passengers. All the technological equipment allows cooperation with the Trans-European Railway System.“

There were many reasons for the reconstruction of the track facility. The railway superstructure (switches and connections to switches) was put on wooden sleepers dating from 1972 till1977, in station tracks even on sleepers dating from 1932. The ballast bed was foul and no longer fulfilled its function. The railway substructure was impermeable, frost susceptible, of sandy clay and was not drained. The signalling installation on Nemotický gridiron dated from 1939. This condition caused fast decay of the geometrical position of the track and required substantial cost in order to maintain functional condition of the track without reducing the line speed. In addition to the aforementioned inconvenient condition of the railway superstructure, substructure and the signalling installation, it was necessary to adjust the process layout of the track facility in order to meet the needs of the Integrated Transport System of the South-Moravia Region, where the operation was launched in June 2008.

The construction work under the reconstruction of the station track facility was made difficult because of complicated surroundings – both the joint track section with road I/50 and track position in a dense industrial and residential built-up area. However, the construction could be implemented according to the schedule and all the involved parties deserve our thanks. The railway station Nesovice can now be proud of two new barrier-free platforms with 550mm over the top of rail, which allows passengers an easier access and exit. New electronic interlocking was installed and the current line and level crossing safety installations were modernized as well as the electric fire signalling installation.

The contractor of the construction is the association „NESOVICE 2009“, represented by SEŽEV – REKO, a.s. (chief association member) and AŽD Praha s.r.o. The project was developed by the company MTPKH Brno.
