On Monday, the New Railway Stop Havířov Střed Will Start Serving Passengers

13.10.2017

SŽDC completed the construction of a new railway stop Havířov střed. The final successful technical and safety test will allow regular and through trains to stop there starting Monday 16 October 2017 already. For hundreds of passengers from the neighbourhood, travelling by train is now considerably shorter. The construction was taking place since 1 March this year with costs for its implementation reaching almost up to 37 million Czech crowns.

The new railway stop Havířov střed is situated right at the road bridge near Dělnická Street and at the same time at walking distance from the urban and suburban bus transport station. Passengers have at their disposal two new platforms with a height of 550 mm above the body of the rail which allows boarding trainsets in a comfortable way. They are protected from unfavourable weather by new roofing with benches. Barrier-free access is also ensured as well as new lighting, a radio information system and a safety and security camera system. The construction also included adaptations of the railway superstructure and substructure, the catenary and signalling safety installations.

it is expected that the new railway stop Havířov střed will be used by up to six hundred passengers per day. Besides a shorter journey to work and to school, they will also get near to the commercial zone and to the hospital in the vicinity. After discussing this issue with the municipality, the original designation of the new stop Havířov nemocnice (Havířov – Hospital) has been changed precisely to Havířov střed (Havířov – Centre).

The construction was carried out by the company Hroší stavby Morava a.s. in the set term for a tendered sum of CZK 35,801,643. Total investment costs for the construction’s preparation and implementation equal almost CZK 60 million; co-financing by the European Union from the Operational Programme Transport 2014 – 2020 amounting up to CZK 45,273,658 is expected.
