Ing. Jiří Kolář, Ph.D. was appointed to the position of Director General of the Railway Infrastructure Administration
Prague, 19th April 2012 – Following a selection procedure, the Management Board of the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization elected its Director General. Ing. Petr Kolář, Ph.D. was appointed to this position.
Shortly after his appointment, Mr. Jiří Kolář, SŽDC´s Director General presented his priorities. Those mostly include a customer-oriented approach within the whole organization, a more frequent and proactive communication with carriers as well as with regions, cities and urban districts. Another priority still focuses on drawing on funds for EU investments and SŽDC´s active involvement in the completion of the Czech railway transformation in compliance with the European legislation.
Last year, Jiří Kolář was actively involved in the so-called live infrastructure, i.e. ČD-SŽDC transfer of staff ensuring traffic control and maintenance; this was successfully implemented as at 1. 9. 2011.
According to the statement of Mr. Adolf Jílek, Chairman of SŽDC´s Management Board, all candidates were very strong, however, the election of Jiří Kolář was decided unanimously.
Jiří Kolář started his career at the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) in 1983 where he held various positions within the railway operation. From 1993 to 1999 he worked as a stationmaster of railway station Kladno. From 1999 to 2004, he was Director of Business-Operation Directorate in Ústí nad Labem. Jiří Kolář graduated from Žilinská University, the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications. In 1999, he obtained a doctorate at the University of Pardubice.
