Optimization of the line Stříbro – Planá u Mariánských Lázní receives the Award „2011 Transport Construction“
On Thursday, 17th May 2012 Awards and Titles were presented in the Bethlehem Chapel in Prague.
The 2011 Czech transport construction, technology and innovation received a record-breaking number of 88 applications! Ing. Ivo Toman, MBA, Deputy Minister of Transport and Ing. Tomáš Čoček, Ph.D., SFDI´s Director presented the certificates to the representatives of the award-winning applicants on behalf of the announcers.
The Optimization of the line Stříbro – Planá u Mariánských Lázní received the Award "2011 Transport Construction" in A category. Ing. Petr Šlegr, SŽDC´s Deputy DG for Rail Modernization accepted this prestigious award "2011 Czech Construction" on behalf
of the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization.
Jury´s long-time chairman, Mr. Prof. Ing. Petr Moos, CSc., ČVUT´s Vice-Rector introduced the jury´s assessment to the guests present. The festive presentation took place in the Bethlehem Chapel as usual, attended by a number of public and leading figures in the field of architecture, civil engineering and transport.
The Award was granted for: „the full reconstruction of the railway line which is part of III Railway Transit Corridor Cheb – Mosty u Jablunkova in the track section Stříbro – Planá u M. L., 32 km long, including 7 railway stations. The reconstruction of
the overhead contact line including the new traction transformer substation in Planá u M. L. and the switching station in Ošelín was carried out in the whole section. Furthermore, extensive treatment of rock-cuttings and reconstructions of railway tunnels, bridges and culverts were carried out. In order to ensure sanitary noise limits, noise walls completed with noise protection measures were built,“jury´s quotation.
The investor of the construction is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization and a large portion, ca 73 %, was co-funded by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund. The main benefits of the completed construction include enhanced line speed of up to 140 km/hour compared to the original 60-90 km/hour and enhanced safety
of the railway traffic.
The project documentation was developed by SUDOP Praha – joint-stock company and the competitive tendering selected
the contractor - Association Stříbro“, represented by its members Skanska, a.s., OHL ŽS a.s. and Eurovia CS, a.s.
The anticipated investment cost of the construction totals CZK 4,391,067,000 without VAT. The funds for this project were granted by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The project within the Operational Programme Transport is co-funded from
the Cohesion Fund of the European Union. The level of EU co-funding is ca CZK 2,579,310,907.
