Railway Infrastructure Administration amends compulsory rules for carriers
Prague, 30/03/2011 – A new compulsory feature was supplemented in the General Agreement on the track access by the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization (SŽDC). It involves the obligation to pay the charge for the requested and allocated path capacity even if it was not eventually utilized.
Mr. Leoš Novotný, representative of the company Rapid Express a.s. was the first one to sign this amended General Agreement. He commented on today´s occasion: “We are aware of these new, strict but just rules and we perceive them as a clear obligation towards the rail operator”. Pavel Habarta, SŽDC´s Executive Director added:”The same agreement is being prepared for other carriers. We assume there will be better transparency related to the access for all carriers to the railway network of the Czech Republic.
It was decided to apply such measures in the innovated General Agreements, which resulted from our past experience as some carriers had not used the requested path capacity, thus blocking this path to other possible carriers.
The new General Agreement is implemented by SŽDC in line with the European legal regulations.
