Railway crossings on Rožnov local line now secured even better

Today, the Railway Infrastructure Administration festively completed modernisation of railway crossings on the single-track line from Valašské Meziříčí to Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. Five railway crossings with roads underwent reconstruction. The project’s assets can be seen mainly in safer, smoother and faster railway transport.

 

 

 

”Statistics of fatal accidents and injuries on the railway clearly demonstrate the necessity of investments into railway crossings. Modernisation of railway crossings on the Rožnov local line will increase not only safety on this line but also smooth railway and road transport operation“, says Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of the Railway Infrastructure Administration.

Before the construction start, these five railway crossings were secured only by St. Andrew’s crosses and due to poor sight conditions, line speed amounted approximately to 40 km/h. The project enabled to increase this speed up to 60 km/h and in the future up to 85 km/h. All railway crossings were provided with new light safety equipment; in some cases, railway superstructure, substructure or the level crossing system was also reconstructed.

Total costs of the construction designated as Railway crossings on the line Valašské Meziříčí – Rožnov pod Radhoštěm amount to 55,451,151 CZK (VAT excluded). The investor is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organisation. The project is co-financed by the EU from its Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport amounting up to 43,440,059 CZK. National financing of the project is ensured by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The construction’s supplier is the Signalbau company.
