The new train stop Smržovka–Luční already in use
Smržovka, 07/01/2010 - Test operation started at a newly-built railway stop Smržovka-Luční in the railway section Harrachov - Tanvald - Liberec on 1st January 2010. It will allow better accessibility of the railway transport from the centre of Smržovka – suburb Luční and close civic amenities. The stop, which is situated between the station Smržovka and the train stop Smržovka-centre, has been included in the project Improvement of transport services of the micro-region Tanvaldsko, funded by the European Union with 25,7 MM. and significantly promoted by the town of Smržovka.
"The new stop will contribute to improving the quality of transport services in our town," said Marek Hotovec, Smržovka mayor. The first train connection which stopped at Smržovka - Luční at 5.52 a.m. on the New Year’s Day was a passenger train from Tanvald to Liberec. All passenger trains and express trains operating in the section Harrachov – Tanvald – Liberec will stop here.
"Other three new stops will be built and start to be used in Desná and in Velké Hamry this year. The project 'Improvement of transport services of the micro-region Tanvaldsko' deals with the construction of four new train stops as well as the modernization of 19 bus stops,“ said Martin Seep, deputy commissioner in charge of the transport resort of the Liberec region. The Regional Authority got financially involved with 50% of the costs of the documentation.
The train stop meets all parameters for contemporary railway travel. There is a new platform – 60 m long and 3 m wide. The waiting room is a wooden building with glassed-in areas on the walls and an aisle roof. The construction also involved an access pavement, public lighting, a wall necessary for expanding the space of the platform towards the Smržovský stream and 108 m-long sections of an access pavement.
