Launch of the Reconstruction of the Railway Station Stará Paka for signalling long-distance control
Stará Paka, 6th December – The construction entitled "Reconstruction of the railway station Stará Paka for DOZ" has been launched on today´s festive occasion. The implementation of the construction will result in enhanced safety and reliability of the railway operation including enhanced safety for passengers moving in the track facility and easier access to trains. The investor of the construction is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization.
A new traffic control office will be set up to successively switch on the remote control of the line Jaroměř – Stará Paka – Železný Brod and the reciprocal motion limitations of trains will be substantially reduced by allowing synchronic entries, which will lead to faster train rides and rationalization of the passenger transport. A part of the track facility will be restored. New electronic interlocking of 3rd (the latest) category will be installed in the area of the railway station Stará Paka. Adjoining track sections to Lomnice nad Popelkou, Roztok u Jilemnice, Horky u Staré Paky and Nové Paky will be equipped with automatic line block systems replacing the current telephone-based way of securing.
The current low (mostly) earth platforms will be replaced with a pair of outside platforms and a pair of side-boarding platforms, altogether with six platform edges. All platforms will be 550 mm over the top of rail in order to allow a barrier-free access to low-rise vehicles. The access to platforms from the passenger building is provided over pavements or the adjoining 2nd platform to the 3rd platform and over a central double-track crossing to the 1st platform and a central single-track crossing to the 4th platform.
There will be a modern information system and a station announcement system to inform passengers about the arrivals and departures of trains or about the access to the platform. The area of the station will be monitored with a camera surveillance system.
The safety of road traffic operations will also be enhanced since 12 level crossings will be reconstructed.
"The reconstruction of the railway station Stará Paka pro DOZ“ is co-funded under the Operational Programme Transport from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union. The national funds have been provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The investment costs of the construction total CZK 383,424,000; the EU contribution amounts to CZK 270,565,121.
