Optimization of the scope of the railway network of the Czech Republic – present situation
Prague, 25/02/2011 – Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization (SŽDC) describes the present situation in the field of the optimization of the scope of the railway network of the Czech Republic in order to clarify the situation and to avoid possible discrepancies.
Last year the Government of the Czech Republic endorsed steps leading to the decrease of the state budget deficit. These steps have a significant economic impact even on the area of the state-owned rail operation. One of the options to reduce the cost of rail operation is to utilize the institute of rail transport stoppage in compliance with § 38 Railway Act No. 266/1994 Coll., as amended and of rail cancellation in compliance with § 5 art. 4 Railway Act No. 266/1994 Coll., as amended. At present, a number of administrative procedures have been interrupted due to the transfer of discordant statements on line cancellations by different bodies. The option of the possible future use of these lines is currently discussed within the transport branch.
