SŽDC Student Cup for Prague students for the fourth time
Prague, 8 June 2016 – Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration) will welcome students of primary school 8th and 9th class for the four year of the all-day sports and educational event SŽDC Student Cup as they are going to choose their future profession soon. The project’s objective is presenting railway professions to students by an entertaining form and motivating them in choosing high school technical specialisations.
Besides sport disciplines, representatives of seven high schools are waiting for students from Prague schools with presentations of their technical fields. By means of knowledge testing, SŽDC representatives will present selected railway professions to students. Railway firemen will be also looking for future colleagues; besides practical demonstrations of their activity, they will have prepared for this event physical and knowledge testing centred on their work which should be mastered by each of them. Children will thus have the opportunity to have a try how much they would succeed.
Student Cup traditionally takes place at the Sport and Recreation Premises Pražačka at Prague 3.
For its conclusion, valuable prizes are going to be awarded to the best for each discipline as well as announcing the total winner who will receive the Cup of SŽDC Director General, Mr. Pavel Surý. The project is a breakthrough not only for SŽDC as such but also in the field of Czech education and HR management. It is not quite common yet for such a big and important state institution to present widely technical fields of study and actively offer cooperation to students.
”I am pleased by the interest of young people in Student Cup. This can be demonstrated by the participation of more than two thousand pupils involved in our project which allows them to get acquainted with our organisation as a dynamic company where they will have a possibility of full development and realisation“, said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.
As we have very positive reactions to this project from schools and children we also visit other regions. This year we will welcome again primary school students from Brno and newly from Děčín.
