Winton Train departed on time
The vintage Winton Train departed from Prague’s central station at 9:01a.m. on 1st September.
Prag, 01/09/2009 - The train set out on a symbolic journey from Prague to London at 9:01 a.m., on Tuesday 1st September 2009. This train departure was the climax of the project called Winton Train – Inspiration by Goodness. The train departure was preceded by a ceremonial event, which started at 8 am, with the unveiling of Nicholas Winton’s statue.
The author of this sculpture is a British artist Flora Kent. The statue is placed on the first platform on the southern side of the hall, in a symbolic way in front of the plaques of World War II victims. The event was attended by distinguished guests. The project was also supported by the ex-president of the Czech Republic, Václav Havel and by British Queen, Elizabeth II.
