Transit node Týniště nad Orlicí offers more comfortable travelling

Týniště nad Orlicí, 25 November 2015 – Heightened and partially roofed platforms, an underpass and barrier-free access for passengers - all of this was provided by the reconstruction of Týniště nad Orlicí railway station in the Rychnov nad Kněžnou district, carried out by the Railway Infrastructure Administration. Its festive completion took place today.

 

 

 

”The technical state of platforms at Týniště nad Orlicí station before the reconstruction did not meet current requirements anymore. A new serviceable shape of the station will improve travelling comfort and safety in this area. I would like to stress especially the importance of providing barrier-free access to platforms which will enable passengers with reduced mobility and orientation to use railway transport “, says Mr. Pavel Surý, Director of the Railway Infrastructure Administration.

During the project implementation, builders constructed two central and one external platform including elevators. Railway substructure and superstructure within the railway station was also reconstructed as well as communication equipment, the catenary, safety equipment and part of the passenger building. Passenger in this important transit node can now also use a new information system.

Thanks to the railway station extension, capacity in direction to Náchod and Choceň can now be increased as required by the Hradec Králové Region. Another asset of considerable importance is the extension of station rail tracks for freight transport which will enable better transport use of the trackage.

The investor of the construction designated as Increasing capacity of the railway line Týniště nad Orlicí - Častolovice - Solnice, reconstruction of platforms at Týniště nad Orlicí Station Part 1 was the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organisation. Total expected costs amounted up to 210,290,019 CZK (VAT excluded). The project was co-financed by the European Union from its Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport up to a maximum amount of 122,575,353 CZK. National financing will be assured by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.

Construction works started in June 2014 and finished in September 2015. Total construction costs amount up to 254,979,019 CZK (VAT excluded). The project is co-financed by the European Union from its Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport up to a maximum amount of 122,575,353 CZK. National financing is assured by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.
