Transport branch saved 80 million Czech crowns on energy purchase
The transport branch saved more than 80 million Czech crowns (CZK) on electrical power and natural gas purchase for the year 2016 compared to current contractual prices, from which over 53.3 million CZK on electrical power and over 26.5 million CZK on natural gas. This constitutes total savings amounting 20% compared to 2015.
The Railway Infrastructure Administration as the central tendering entity in the transport branch purchased within the branch system of centralized public tendering over 270 thousand megawatt hours of electrical power and 158 thousand megawatt hours of natural gas for 2016. The purchase, coordinated with the Ministry of Transport and State Fund for Transport Infrastructure, was carried out on the energy market of the Czech Moravian Commodity Exchange Kladno.
Electrical power and natural gas are designed for 12 organizations within the transport branch. It is assumed that total expenditures for electrical power in 2016 will amount to 231 million CZK and expenditures for natural gas to 89 million CZK.
The transport branch will continue centralized public tendering for selected commodities in order to maximize financial savings.
