15.10.2018 SŽDC Strives to Increase Safety at Railway Crossings in a Long Term

Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) systematically strives to increase safety at railway crossings. Every year, it selects in cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic and the Rail Authority dozens of railway crossings which are suitable for modernization or a safety increase, especially on transit corridors and at crossings with 1st class roads. At the same time, SŽDC strives to decrease the number of crossings on the Czech railway network.

04.10.2018 Feasibility Study Assesses Alternatives of New Connection Prague – Beroun

At the beginning of next year, results of the feasibility study for the new route Prague – Beroun ordered by Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC will be available). The document assesses individual alternatives for the new line between these two cities, especially from the economic effectiveness point of view. There are three alternatives altogether: alternative C with a long tunnel between the Prague quarter Smíchov and Beroun, alternative B with a shorter tunnel in the line section Praha-Radotín – Beroun and alternative F with tunnels up to 5 kilometres long in the line section Praha-Radotín – Řevnice. The new line is designed for mixed transport with a maximum speed up to 200 kph.

20.04.2018 Dealing with Landslide of Railway Embankment in Dalovice – Hájek Line Section

Preliminary results of the geological survey carried out in the area of a railway embankment part landslide in the Dalovice - Hájek line section demonstrated that the originally considered option of putting the open line track No 1 into emergency operation was not feasible for reasons of safety preservation. The superstructure and substructure remains are not consistent and are geologically unstable. These days there is no way to assure provisional operation in this section. The situation is also complicated due to very restricted access for heavy machinery.
