Railway station Stará Paka equipped with a state-of-the-art signalling installation thanks to European subsidies
Stará Paka, 17 December 2012 –Railway Infrastructure Administration completed the „Reconstruction of railway station Stará Paka for DOZ“. The mysterious abbreviation DOZ stands for signalling remote control. The implementation of the construction project aimed at enhanced safety and reliability of the railway traffic including enhanced safety and comfort of passengers. The project has been co-funded as part of the Operational Programme Transport from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union. The contractor of the construction project was the Association of AŽD Praha and Elektrizace železnic.
A new traffic control office was set up in the railway station; its task is to successively activate remote control of the line Jaroměř – Stará Paka – Železný Brod. As a result of the reconstruction, movement of trains in the station is less restricted, which will result in time gain of the train journey and in a more efficient passenger transport. The station can now boast a new electronic interlocking of the 3rd (state-of-the-art) category. Adjoining track sections to Lomnice nad Popelkou, Roztoky u Jilemnice, Horka u Staré Paky and Nová Paka are newly equipped with automatic line block systems instead of the current phone-based mode.
Passengers can benefit from new comfortable platforms with six platform edges. All platforms are 550 mm above the top of rail to allow an easier entry and exit. There are new pavements running to the platforms from the passenger building. A modern information system and a station announcement system were installed to provide the passengers with the arrival-departure and platform information. The station area is monitored with a camera-surveillance system.
The construction project also focused on enhanced safety of road traffic. 12 railway bridges have been reconstructed as well.
„The reconstruction of railway station Stará Paka for DOZ“ has been co-funded as part of the Operational Programme Transport from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union. National funds have been granted by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. Investment costs of the construction total CZK 383,424,000; EU contribution amounts to CZK 270,565,121.
