Operation on the line between Kutná Hora and Zruč nad Sázavou will be safer and smoother
Today, the Railway Infrastructure Administration festively launched modernisation of new railway crossings on the line between Kutná Hora and Zruč nad Sázavou. Six railway crossings with roads are going to be reconstructed. The project will increase railway operation safety in this section and will contribute to higher comfort for passengers.
The project is based on priorities of the Operational Programme Transport, having as objective to improve railway transport. Its purpose is especially increasing safety on railway crossings and reliability of local equipment, decreasing the impact of human factor and centralising safety equipment. Another asset is smother railway and road operation in the crossings’ vicinity.
”Fatal accidents on the railway are still mostly caused by undisciplined drivers or pedestrians at railway crossings. Our main objective on the line between Kutná Hora and Zruč nad Sázavou is increasing safety for passengers Thanks to this project, it will be possible to increase line speed up to 60 km8 and speed for overtaking road vehicles up to 50 km/h “, says Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of the Railway Infrastructure Administration.
Six railway crossings which are currently secured only by St. Andrew’s crosses and due to poor sight conditions, line speed of railway vehicles must be decreased there, are to be built and reconstructed.. The crossings will be provided with new light safety equipment; in some cases, railway superstructure and substructure will be repaired as well.
