Control and Analysis Centre helps in railway traffic remote control
Prague, 20 June 2016 – Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Railway Infrastructure administration) festively completed construction of the Control and Analysis Centre for Traffic Control (KAC), being implemented mostly in two technological localities - Traffic Control Centre Prague and Traffic Control Centre Přerov. In accordance with EU trends, this project creates prerequisites to gradually introduce centralised remote traffic control on the whole Czech railway network.
Through current and new SŽDC data networks, the KAC system integrates and archives data from systems for scanning and recording voice communication and object video in the whole Czech Republic. For centre safety reasons, dislocation of central components was designed for two localities which are mutually backed up. KAC also acquires information on the activity of electronic safety systems from both traffic control sites at Prague and at Přerov and controlled areas connected to these traffic control centres. It is connected to the central system of user accounts administration and provides information for traffic control phone terminals.
”The KAC system is available online for selected SŽDC employees and it provides them access to records by means of a simple and transparent web interface from all SŽDC sites, thus simplifying work for dispatchers and traffic controllers“, said Mr. Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.

The KAC system includes also railway stations in the area controlled by the Traffic Control Centre which are not integrated into remote control. After reconstruction of these stations and their integration into remote control, configuration and new setting of information transfer into the KAC system will occur. Information is transferred from current and future regional traffic control centres. These will be connected and provided with information transfer after implementation of optical networking and establishing data connectivity.
The project is in accordance with the global objective of Operational Programme Transport Priority Axis 1 which is an improvement of railway transport on the Trans-European Transport Network TEN-T. The construction implementation helped increasing railway transport safety and reliability
Total estimated costs of the construction designated as Control and Analysis Centre for Traffic Control amounted to CZK 545,046,736 (VAT excluded). The project was co-financed from the EU Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport up to a maximum amount of CZK 440,489,681.
National financing was provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The construction’s supplier was the company ČD - Telematika a.s.
