Signing the Contract for the Thoroughfare in Pilsen
Prague, 7th November 2011 – A contract for the modernization of the railway junction Pilsen in the direction of III Railway Transit corridor has been officially signed. The construction valued at CZK 942 million (without VAT) will be implemented by the company Skanska during the subsequent two and a half years. The investor is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization. The funds will be provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure and the construction has been proposed to be co-funded by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund.
Ing. Pavel Habarta, MBA, SŽDC´s Executive Director, commented on today´s occasion: "This signature represents a commitment for all the involved parties to implement this challenging construction in a built-up area under fixed and contract-stipulated conditions.“

The goal is the modernization of the track sections České Budějovice - Cheb and Prague - Domažlice. As for the Cheb line it involves the connection of the railway station Pilsen main station with the beginning of the completed construction Pilsen-Stříbro and as for the Domažlice line it involves the modernization of the railway station Pilsen main station as far as the railway station Pilsen Southern Suburb inclusive.
The construction also includes a complex reconstruction of the subways of the railway station Pilsen main station which will be extended to Šumavská St. and Železniční St. Crucial construction objects are bridge reconstructions across the Radbuza River, over Prokopova St. and Vejprnická St. and across Vejprnický Creek.
This is another significant project of the Trans-European Transport Network. The construction "Thoroughfare in the Pilsen junction in the direction of III Railway Transit Corridor“ has been included into the list of the priority constructions of the Operational Programme Transport for the period 2007-2013 to be co-funded by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund.
