Reconstruction of Track No. 1, km 30,650–38,616 of the line Brno – Havlíčkův Brod completed, bridges repaired, new modern platforms in Dolní Loučkya


Tišnov, October 29, 2012 – As a result of the completion of the project „Reconstruction of Track No. 1, km 30,650–38,616 of the line Brno – Havlíčkův Brod“, the line between Brno and Havlíčkův Brod can boast improved parameters. In addition, two bridges on km 34,341 and 35,529 have been reconstructed. The investor of the construction project is Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organization (SŽDC).



As part of the reconstruction, new continuous welded rail UIC60 will be laid on B91 S/1 concrete sleepers. SB 8P concrete sleepers have been used for massive bridge structures. The reconstruction of the ballast bed has been carried out on a nearly 7km-long section. There is a new 1,174m-long ballast bed on bridges on km 34,341 and 35,529 and in the tunnel (on km 34,531–35,164). On steel bridges on km 30,896, 31,461 and 31,850 reconstruction of bridge sleepers, drainage and water-proofing of dilatation joints and cornices were carried out on both tracks and on the bridges on km 35,529 and 34,341 on Track No. 1. The bridges had been used since 1953 and no extensive repairs had been carried out during that time.

The construction project has also included cutting slope treatment on km 38,060–38,110. Extracted material has been replaced with pervious, frost-resistant soil. At the same time, the subsurface drain function under the lineside ditch was restored. The ditch is now stabilized with ditch lining concrete blocks.

Train stop Dolní Loučka near Track No. 1 has a new 170m-long grade-separated platform, 550mm over the top of rail.

The overhead contact line has been reconstructed as well. As part of the reconstruction of Track No. 1 and due to obsolete contact line system electrical parameters of the track section, all insulation elements have been reconstructed.  

Modifications of the signalling equipment include installation of new line loops in railway stations Tišnov and Říkonín. At signal points, dismantling and assembling of refurbished track transformers were carried out as well as dismantling of old cable sets and assembling of new ones.

The investment costs of the construction total CZK 109,955,057. The construction project was submitted to be co-funded by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund as part of the Operational Programme Transport. The level of financial assistance may be up to 85% of eligible cost of the construction project. The rest is financed from national funds from the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.
