Reconstruction of Řetenice Railway Station Launching for a Price of almost CZK One Billion
Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC) launches reconstruction of Řetenice railway station, situated on the line Ústí nad Labem -Chomutov. Besides reconstruction of the station as such, it deals also with adaptations of connecting line sections between stations in direction to Teplice v Čechách, Oldřichov u Duchcova and Úpořiny. Besides shorter journey times, the construction will also result in higher passenger safety by building grade-separated platforms with barrier-free access.
The supplier of the construction for a price of CZK 945 million is Společnost ChT + EŽ Řetenice, consisting of the companies Chládek & Tintěra and Elektrizace železnic Praha. Handing the building site over to the supplier has started today; during the next 15 months, the railway superstructure and substructure, the catenary and artificial construction such as bridges, culverts and supporting walls are going to be reconstructed. The station will also acquire new signalling and safety equipment which will allow implementing the ETCS system in the future.
A new centre platform 120 metres long and an external platform 50 metres long will be built at Řetenice Station. Access to the newly built platforms will be enabled by the current footbridge completed by a staircase leading to the centre platform and by two lifts. At the same time, a new technological structure will be built on the site of the former rolling stock services building.
The extensive reconstruction of Řetenice railway station will also require restrictions in railway operation. As of 25 April, daily closures are planned for constructing bases of masts for a new catenary, shuttering of bridges and dismantling expendable tracks. As of 3 June, continuous closures will gradually take place as required by the construction’s progress. The construction is scheduled to be completed in May 2020.
